CANON: Honkai: Star Rail
CANON POINT: any, post-Penacony default
AGE: Mid-20 to Early-30s
Personality
(DRAFT, INCOMPLETE) Say hello to Aventurine, the Interastral Peace Corporation's slick and swaggering Stoneheart of Stratgagems. He is a dazzling firecracker of a person; flashy clothes, grand gestures, a flippant and carefree persona, everything about him is distracting, glitzy and glamourous. He's a grandstanding schmoozer, quick to make friends, quicker to ply the resistant with gifts and honeyed words, and utterly shameless about it. It's so over the top, it slips into slimy and borders on foolish. And maybe he is just that, a fool.
He is a risk-taker, after all. Rather known for it, in fact -- big wagers and bigger rewards, and oozing with so much confidence as to seem burdened by his own hubris. He is a volatile cocktail, certainly. It's a wonder he's gotten as far as he has, holding that little sliver of godhood from the Aeon of Preservation THEMSELF. It's a wonder he isn't dead. That he not only lives, but thrives, speaks to either fearsome competence or supernatural heaps of luck.
Foolish gambler, thrill-seeking peacock, confident, competent, and charming -- that's Aventurine, got it? Good.
Now, you should know, Aventurine is not real.
The flashy Aventurine of Stratagems is a mask donned by Kakavasha of the Avgin, a refugee of war and famine, the last of his people, bought and sold for years by powerful people eager to use his luck to their advantage. The young man hiding beneath Aventurine has endured much, succeeded where others could not, and yet still does not believe he deserves to be here.
Kakavasha is
(NOTES)
- "The self beneath is extraordinarily faint" (Acheron voice over). "Masters and Servants tend to be alike in some way. For us, it's probably some obsession we can't seem to shake." (Archer voice over) Kakavasha does not have a strong sense of self beyond the persona he's created in his pursuit of revenge against Oswaldo Schneider and the Marketing Development Department. He does not know what he actually enjoys, what he actually dislikes. He's extremely divorced from his own feelings, even after Sunday's Tuning.
- Despite appearances, Kakavasha is not totally reckless. He voices light disdain for Masked Fool thrill-seeking in his character voice overs and speaks about knowing he always wins his wages in Light Cone lore. All risks are calculated, in service to his ultimate goal, which may very well be sabotaging the IPC, itself.
- That said, he DOES NOT value his own life, and does seem to take pleasure in the potential of losing it, at one point actively seeking out Nihility. He does not care if he lives or dies (Saber voice over), because while he does have this obscure wish (whether for freedom or revenge), he does not ultimately believe that he has a choice in whether he achieves it (Signature LC lore).
- If deprived of a reason to pursue revenge, he WOULD turn toward more overtly risky behavior. (Received an invitation to the Tavern; commiserates with Sparkle when added to her team.)
- Burdened heavily by survivor's guilt, impostor syndrome, and self-loathing, any ostensible desire for freedom he shows may actually just be another layer he's grown on the onion to hide his true goals.
- Needs to feel in control of any given situation. Always wants to be ten steps ahead of everyone else. Never feels completely safe. Capable of extremely manipulative behavior. Very Cat.
- Aventurine's negative perception of himself extends to how he assumes others perceive him (About Dr. Ratio). At the same time, I think he tends to have a slightly more positive perception of others than they have of him.
- Aventurine will flirt freely, engage in physical intimacy, and even pretend at emotional intimacy if he sees a benefit in it. However, he has so thoroughly failed to be Kakavasha that he does not actually know what he wants or enjoys beyond the very narrow scope of his obsession. Aventurine needs to do serious work on himself to unmask, and he needs to feel safe to even begin that work. This is all to say that actually satisfying romantic CR with him is the stuff of very long-term PSLs.

FIRST IMPRESSION:
Flashy and unimposing, Aventurine himself gets a little lost in all the bright colors and bangles he wears, piling on expensive designer accessories, giving the impression that he is a lover of luxury, easily bought. He exudes an easy confidence that tends to teeter between charming and shady.Once one gets past the initial flashbang that is his overall appearance, there's a certain disheveled quality to him, messy blonde hair, rumples in his vest, that add to the overall carefree persona, but point to something perhaps a bit less bright and sunny about him.
VOICE:
Aventurine's voice is smooth, musical, and his tone almost always a little smarmy. I write him with his EN VA, Camden Sutkowski in mind.
Abilities
of Stratagems
Despite the persona he puts forward, Aventurine is perceptive, clever, and calculating. His seemingly supernatural heaps of luck are due in no small part to a sharp intellect, careful planning, and a gift for spotting opportunities worth taking. Just as his job title suggests, he is a tactician through and through.Goddess Blessed Luck
While the odds do not always land in Aventurine's favor, games of chance generally play out to his advantage. While there very well may be a supernatural element tipping the scales in his favor, Aventurine's "good luck" is largely just a perfectly mundane ability to roll with the punches, land on his feet, and pivot quickly in new directions. All for the Amber Lord
Aventurine is in possession of a Cornerstone, a fragment of Qlipoth, the Aeon/god of Preservation. This stone holds immense power, protecting him from the influence of other Paths/Aeons/gods and and granting him an array of offensive magical abilities that include transformation into a larger, more resilient form, flight/levitation, and various combat powers, some of them luck-based. Even damaged, the Cornerstone imparts considerable power.
